Shetland Plays
Two short plays written in the Shetland dialect. Suspeecion tells the story of Alethea, whose classmates suspect her of stealing; Da Lasses o da Haaf Grunay is based around the allegedly true story of two girls from Unst who were swept across to Norway in a small boat.

My first-ever professionally published book! I was so proud. Both these plays were written for the local Drama Festival. Suspeecion was for a class-sized cast, and shows the harm unfounded gossip can do. Few of Alethea’s friends have been deliberately malicious in spreading rumours and jumping to conclusions, but the effect on Alethea is devastating, and long-lasting in a small community. Lasses is my religious play, a meditation on love, justice and forgiveness, and I’d love to see it acted by an adult cast.
