A Shetland Winter Mystery

It’s the dark nights in the run up to Christmas, when Shetland’s little people, the trows, are traditionally allowed to wander around human houses. Sailing sleuth Cass Lynch wakes to find tiny footprints in the snow around the cottage she shares with Gavin, her policeman lover. Theirs isn’t the only house that’s been visited by creatures that can apparently vanish.

Is it just ingenious local teenagers staging a protest against Cass’s father’s windfarm, or is something more sinister going on?

Then a young man disappears, leaving only a trail of footprints into the middle of a snowy field...

  • Praise for A Shetland Winter Mystery:

If you’ve never met Cass and her merry crew before, this tenth book in the series is as good a beginning as any to draw you into her world – and I guarantee it will send you in search of her earlier adventures. Lynne Patrick, Mystery People.

  • Wonderfully atmospheric… The tenth in the Shetland Sailing Mystery series and the run up to Christmas appears anything but festive for Cass Lynch who is at last on dry land. Footprints in the snow lead to another compelling investigation for the sleuth in this beautifully described and wonderfully atmospheric addition to this series. A perfect Winter mystery. 5-star review by Anon on Net Galley.

  • Another wonderful dip into Cass`s world. Snuggle by the fire and allow yourself to be transported to Shetland and this time it’s winter. Only a few lines in and this amazing writer has set the scene and mood for yet another series of troubles that Cass seems to find herself in. You could be at the kitchen table enjoying a catch up cup of tea with her as she relates her latest escapades. These tales which now involve her partner Gavin the new DI on Shetland more, are a little mysterious, heartwarming and funny. But through it all run characters who feel alive - you could know them just from the few words which sketch them. Not only well known characters such as Magnie and Peerie Charlie, but the other children who have just been background characters in the previous stories like Drew and Valia and Rainbow now growing up and having interesting voices of their own. These emotional and charming books are addictive and long may we be taken to this beautiful landscape populated by warm totally believable characters and Cass of course who manages to get into so many scrapes patiently supported and gently understood by Gavin. Just a joy! Maddog, 5-star review on Amazon.
